It’s the Golden Age of Anthologies on TV, and while True Detective will have to credit Ryan Murphy and his “American Horror Story” troupe for starting the trend, True Detective has made its own unique mark on the genre. This darkly twisted and endlessly disturbing down the rabbit hole of demonic cults and serial-killer psychosis was riveting, but the real genius of this limited series was the relationship between Matthew McConaughy’s Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson’s Martin Hart. It kept us all watching. A new cast will arrive for the next season, but we can only hope they live up to the True Detective legacy.
