Cordova’s most visible work is the continued rollout of Operation GigaSpeed and the launch of 1 Gigabit service for the lion’s share of Suddenlink’s customers. The exec sticks to this business advice: “Take care of the customer like you would take care of your own family,” he says. With his 250-person team overseeing technical operations and engineering, Cordova leads Suddenlink’s multi-million dollar investment in a system that will help manage its network and all of its components, and better position it to forecast infrastructure capacity and further enhance customer service. The system goes online this year.

What’s your biggest professional accomplishment in the past 12 months?

I would say the biggest accomplishment has been the success of our Operation GigaSpeed project, which is increasing our flagship Internet speeds from 15  Mbps to 200 Mbps and increasing our billboard Internet speed up to 1 Gbps. This is a very exciting effort for both our employees, the leaders in the towns we serve and our customers.

Best business advice you’ve received?

Take care of the customer like you would take care of your own family.

How do you define diversity?

True diversity exists in an environment where gender, ethnic and all forms of diversity do not need to be top of mind because they are accepted as part of the way we operate and no longer artificial factors in any decision.  It simply exists deep in the fabric of all of our organizations.

How can cable better support diversity?

Continue to be a strong supporter of WICT and NAMIC.   Have diversity be part of all our welcome messages to our new employees and make sure all employees in our respective companies know that it is a priority for all of us.

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

Consolidation.  Change always feels uncomfortable but, in my opinion, in this case, it is required. The industry is strong and the opportunities are endless. We are at yet another inflection point in our cable continuum and, like all past inflections, we will come out stronger than before.

How do you define success?

A team that sees its efforts produce improved ratings by happy customers.
