An HR professional for more than 18 years, Gillenwater has held numerous senior leadership positions in three different divisions of Comcast. He considers “knowing the business” the skill that has benefitted him the most throughout his career. “Understanding the business, operational goals and being able to interpret the impact to the human capital is the key,” he says. In a tough economy, recent college graduates should come in prepared to be a sponge, he says. “They should learn as much as they can, as quickly as they can.”
