This power trio of Comcast executives illustrates the teamwork that went into making 2013 a banner year for the company in everything from network ratings to customer retention and corporate profits. Smit’s commitment to technological innovation and advancing the XFinity brand staved off subscriber losses, leading instead to an influx of 43,000 new customers that propelled the cable side of the business, which accounted for roughly 80% of the combined companies’ operating cash flow. On the NBCU side, Burke saw big box office receipts and improved network ratings, and created a strong lead-up to the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Their coordinated efforts combined to allow CFO Angelakis to further secure the company’s sound financial foundation, enabling Comcast to pursue its aggressive expansion plans.
