Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful” series originated from the Victorian sensational books nicknamed by the same name. So, it was very apt for the press kit to feature a vintage book that actually turned out to be a book safe. Inside was the secret world of Penny Dreadful—from a set of series-branded tarot cards to a screener of the first 2 episodes to a letter from series creator, writer and exec producer John Logan. It looked like a book, but turned out to be a safe. All apt metaphors for a series that’s more than meets the eye.
