This past year Howe tackled a slew of tasks. She’s been a key player in the acquisition of Pace and the Active Video Networks’ joint venture initiative with Charter. She also integrated Arris’ NASCAR sponsorship and redesigned the company’s website with a refreshed brand. “There are great opportunities for women willing to learn about cutting-edge technologies and the new product offerings they produce,” she says.

 

Where are the biggest growth areas for women in cable? 

We need to embrace new technologies!  There are great opportunities for women willing to learn about cutting-edge technologies and the new product offerings they produce.  Becoming familiar and comfortable with technology can provide rewarding career opportunities for women eager to take on a new challenge.

 

What’s the most important aspect of mentoring? 

Never forget your roots and those who gave you wings.  Mentors have given me wings throughout my career in times of transition, new challenges and in helping me polish executive skills.  As a result, it is important for me to give back to young women in the industry and share the skills and best practices I was taught over the years.

 

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance? 

Every weekend I strive for one “play day”, where I have very little firmly scheduled, can work out for a couple of hours, and enjoy simple pleasures like reading a book on the porch and spending the evening with family and friends.
