ABC Family is getting a new name, Freeform, and a new focus on “becomers,” which skews its target audience younger than before. Smith will continue to direct long-term growth strategies for the network, including new business development and creative alliances and multiplatform content expansion. “I’m inspired by our audience because they are fearless, technology savvy, open-minded and global citizens,” she says.

The biggest growth areas are in digital, technology and new platforms.

Remembering that mentoring is a 360-degree experience—that we have just as much to learn from generations that have gone before us as we do from the ones that come after us.
