Rosalyn Durant
Already one of the most prominent women in the industry, in January Durant became one of the most influential executives, male or female, in sports when she took over ESPN’s college conference relations, college football and men’s basketball. As someone who wants to absorb the wisdom of those around her, Durant says when hiring she looks “for a team player, someone who makes the team stronger. I like to surround myself with (and hire) smart, passionate people who are not afraid to think differently and contribute boldly.”
Who has been your strongest mentor, and why?
I could never narrow it down to just one. I am always eager to soak up the wisdom of any and every generous soul willing to share and I am blessed to have many around me.
What qualities do you look for when making a new hire?
I look for a team player; someone who makes the team stronger. I like to surround myself with (and hire) smart, passionate people who are not afraid to think differently and contribute boldly.
Name one emerging trend in cable we should all have our eyes on.
One of the most obvious trends to me is the shift in viewer consumption habits. With so many good options available (mobile devices, laptops, TV, etc), we need to focus on creating great…great content that’s portable.
