ESPN veteran King continues to best his own track record overseeing the editorial content on ESPN’s digital platforms, ESPN The Magazine and espnW. Check out these stats: ESPN.com led the sports category with an average minute audience of nearly 74,562 users on the site at any given minute across a month in 2012. The site amassed 3.3 billion total minutes per month and captured nearly 30% of all minutes spent with sports sites. The key to all this success? King’s mastery of cross-media integration and powerful story-telling. “Almost 30 years ago, I had a mentor named Alice Bonner who challenged me to pursue the newsroom management route, telling me that there was too little diversity within leadership ranks for me to avoid taking on the responsibility,” he says.
