King leads all editorial for ESPN’s digital platforms, ESPN The Magazine, espnW and ESPN High School, and he shapes convergence of the net’s digital and print media across multiple platforms and disciplines. He wields influence beyond the company as well, as an Online News Association board member, a visiting Instructor at the American Press Institute and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists Sports Task Force – to name just a few roles he serves within the community. King’s first mentor, renowned journalist Alice Bonner, taught him that hiding in an office would not advance the cause of other journalists of color. “She made sure I understood my responsibilities to learn, grow, and develop into the type of leader who could make the road smoother for other minorities in the newsroom and the generations to follow,” he says.
