While TV Everywhere is supposed to be, well… everywhere—it’s really not. And that’s where Penthera’s Cache&Carry comes in, thinking beyond streaming and actually enabling customers to download content to their mobile devices. With Apple, Amazon and YouTube among big players offering download options, Penthera has pointed out the benefit of MVPDs offering the same capability and in a way that protects copyright holders and distributors. By letting consumers download authorized content to their choice of devices, Penthera’s cloud-based software ensures a quality experience by the end consumer while enforcing the rights of copyright holders. And with Cache&Carry’s “push” capability, a show can download overnight to a device, ready for viewing the next day. With deals already in place with big names like Nokia and Comcast, we’re guessing Penthera will be around for the long haul.
