Lofty big-picture thinking and on-the-ground mobilization don’t typically go hand in glove, but Turner-Lee is not your typical executive. An entrenched industry energizer with a passion for diversity, she’s channeling cable to use more research stats to drive benchmarks on industry employment trends. In fact, she created the first “National Minority Broadband Adoption Study,” which was cited in the FCC’s National Broadband Plan, and the FCC’s subsequent report detailing the information needs of communities. “I have found cable to be one of the few industries that stays on top of innovation and keeps adapting to meet consumer demands,” she says.
