Manager, Scheduling and Acquisitions, TV One

Benjamin has worked hard this year at TV One to expand offerings for the network’s VOD service. Having been promoted from coordinator to manager in 2016, he is contributing to the upcoming launch of TV One’s TV Everywhere initiative. He’s tackled programming stunts aimed at elevating ratings and increasing ad sales opportunities, while also identifying potential movie and series acquisitions. His biggest mentor is his mother, who is “as cool as a cucumber and knows how to make sound and wise decisions in the face of pressure and uncertainty.”

What is the one habit that makes you most successful?

Waking up early to read and plan my day. On the days where I am most effective in visualizing success, those are days when success becomes most readily a reality.

What sort of culture is important to you in the workplace?

I am a big fan of collaboration – great minds bring innovation from a variety of perspectives, and it’s important to consider all avenues and voices in order to harness and execute the best ideas.

Who has been your biggest mentor and why?

My mother – she’s as cool as a cucumber, and knows how to make sound and wise decisions in the face of pressure and uncertainty. She is my greatest champion, creative sounding board and most loyal ally.
