What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

While this may not be the biggest story in cable this year, it is certainly my favorite.  The thing that excites me most about the cable industry is the world of possibilities we enable for everyone through broadband connectivity.  Not only are we connecting residential users at speeds that are 10 times faster today than 5 years ago, we are also adding value to the user experience by enabling broadband mobility through the over 250,000 out-of-home cable Wi-Fi hot spots that are available at no extra charge to consumers.

 How do you define a successful career?

I used to think that career success was defined by your corporate title.  Once I learned that the career jungle gym is better than the career ladder, I began to measure the success of my career based on whether it fuels my motivation by allowing me to accomplish significant things, allows me rich and meaningful work experience, and affords me the opportunity to establish positive business relationships with lasting value.

 Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

The best trick for maintaining personal-professional life balance is to measure balance using your own scale rather than someone else’s and to look at balance over a span of time, not day-by-day.  Although my focus and priorities change from hour to hour and day to day— on the whole, my priorities never change.
