The sign of an excellent showrunner is the ability to walk a fine line between genres—and making it all work beautifully. Marti Noxon does just that and more as she herds the comedic and dramatic cats that make up “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.” Based on Noxon’s own experiences, the show celebrates the absurdity of relationships in all their forms with plenty of laughs—but an emotional core also brings out the drama, sometimes without warning. That takes talent. And Noxon has it.
