Starz chief Chris Albrecht is more committed than ever to original programming, and Fernandez is one of his go-to execs. She oversees a swelling slate of originals—including recent ratings hit “Ash vs Evil Dead”—with an equally swelling team.  “The most important aspect of mentoring to me is helping people figure out what aspect of the business they want to be involved in and then helping them get a foot in that particular door,” she says.

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance? 

Turning off my phone when I’m visiting family or spending time with friends, and remembering to take vacations.

 

Your favorite trick for unwinding?

Hiking! See my pic – It was taken from the top of Lion’s Head Peak in Capetown, South Africa. I’m not an expert hiker, but when I’m hiking I can disconnect from the job and any other stressors and just focus on the trail in front of me. I’m not an athlete by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s so satisfying getting to the top of the mountain!
