In addition, she oversees financial planning, strategic initiatives and business development for the company’s Hispanic franchises, including Telemundo and NBC Universo. “The cable industry can advance and better support diversity by continuing to build inclusive workforces and cultures so that we learn from and leverage many perspectives,” Dooner says. “Networks should also continue to invest in content that features a broad array of characters that reflect real life and resonate with audiences now more than ever.”
How do you define diversity?
Diversity is being inclusive – accepting and respecting social and perspective differences. It extends beyond mere tolerance to embrace the varied characteristics and traits that will help us learn, grow and innovate together.
How can cable better support diversity?
Diversity now means reflecting the cultural values of our customers and audiences in our programming, as well as behind the scenes. The cable industry can advance and better support diversity by continuing to build inclusive workforces and cultures so that we learn from and leverage many perspectives. Networks should also continue to invest in content that features a broad array of characters that reflect real life and resonate with audiences now more than ever.
How do you define success?
I define success as making a difference – contributing to the business, and at the same time, giving back and empowering others. Throughout my career, I have had many opportunities to be a mentor, participate in community programs and contribute to causes outside of work, such as education, that are important to me.
