Move over, Judge Judy. As head of Comcast Cable’s Legal Regulatory Group, Charytan is responsible for providing corporate-wide legal advice on regulatory matters and overseeing the company’s legal regulatory advocacy, including filings in federal and state proceedings and related litigation and appeals. An honors graduate from both Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Charytan is a passionate advocate for the industry and has worked to improve the standing of women in the legal and cable fields. She feels it’s never too early to start your career. “There’s so much time to be careful and conservative later,” Charytan says.

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self? 

To my 13 year old self I’d say, “It’s cooler to be ambitious than not. Dream big, push the limits, go for it, and lean in!  There’s so much time to be careful and conservative later.”

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

Maybe not the “biggest,” but the government has made itself too big a story in cable this year.
