The stunt, which includes staging of a “Soviet Invasion” in LA, earned more than 22 million media impressions and helped make the series premiere the highest rated in FX history. It was also the highest rated month in FX history at the time of premiere. The stunt appeared as if a Soviet nuclear submarine has surfaced through the ground. Supporting the submarine visual were Russian actors, period-accurate Soviet military vehicles and heavy “The America” branding, as well as an exclusive press Q&A at the base of the submarine.
