Kristen Roberts
EVP, Pricing, Planning & Revenue Management, Crown Media Family Networks
Strategic analysis and management of all revenue streams for Crown, including ad sales, digital and distribution all fall under Roberts’ purview as she works alongside the fellow senior managers to ensure its rock-solid infrastructure. Each year, Roberts is instrumental throughout upfront and scatter negotiations, providing valuable insight to the senior team. It’s no surprise she loves her spreadsheets, but the fact that she also possesses a great talent for working with people makes her an invaluable team player.
What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
My first message would be that it’s a long race. There are going to be ups and downs, but take responsibility for everything that you do, the good and the bad. If you are someone people can count on and are kind along the way, you can be proud and will open yourself up to opportunities along the way.
Which current programming best reflects the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
As a rule, I stay away from reality TV and it’s not something I would encourage my kids to watch. Aside from that, I am open to different types of shows and unique characters. TV is a form of escapism and I love watching characters that are completely different from me as well as ones I can relate to. I love the female roles in The American’s, Veep, Modern Family and Game of Thrones. So, it’s a pretty wide range! These are strong, funny, complicated characters that are multidimensional and entertaining to watch.
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
I think the biggest story in cable is the domination of Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries throughout the 4th Quarter Holiday season!
