Veteran cable executive Hulsey is not only a dynamo in the Scripps legal and government affairs department when it comes to deal-making, but also within industry associations including NCTA and the US Chamber of Commerce. While she is known as an exec who comfortably brokers new connections—a skill that provides the company with beneficial relationships on both sides of the Hill, at the FCC and with many government agencies—she has noticed a change in the government affairs sector of the cable business, notably “the sense of acrimony that accompanies the conversations among our lawmakers and the partisan divide that seems to result. Interest in reaching across the aisle is almost non-existent, and the spirit of compromise and negotiation feels similarly absent.”
