Katya Troyky
Advertising Sales Coordinator, Viamedia
Troyky has managed to use fun competition to drive ad sales at Viamedia, putting together a creative score board and sales trackers to motivate everyone. Having proven herself as a dedicated employee, she’s been trusted to fill in other markets while maintaining her current three markets, doubling her work when it is required. When Viamedia ran a sales contest, Troyky managed and motivated her account executives, leading to her Phoenix team taking first, second and third place in the Western Region. Besides her father, Troyky’s biggest mentor has been Michael Hooper, her boss. “He took a chance on me two years ago and has been my biggest cheerleader,” she says.
What is the one habit that makes you most successful?
The one habit that makes me most successful is having a pleasant demeanor. There is enough negativity in the world and I’ve found that remaining optimistic in the most problematic situations accomplishes a lot.
What sort of culture is important to you in the workplace?
I consider myself very lucky to work in a fun, supportive work place environment. There has never been a day with my company that I wake up dreading to go to work. My team is like family to me. Our culture is productive, but we still like to joke around and have fun.
Who has been your biggest mentor and why?
I have two. Personally, my father. He has always pushed me to be better. He celebrates my victories and supports me through my trials. Professionally, I would have to say my boss, Michael Hooper. He took a chance on me two years ago and has been my biggest cheerleader. Michael brings over 30 years of cable leadership experience with him. Because of this and his supportive management style, I have learned the most effective methods for being successful in this industry.
