Cable veteran Lopez oversees affiliate distribution and marketing for Fuse—a role that increasingly fi nds her thinking out of the box in terms of courting and sealing multiplatinum strategies. Case in point is the new deal between Fuse and Complex Networks that sees Fuse creating short-form content that will air on Complex platforms and be cross-promoted by both companies. Look for Lopez to keep her eyes trained on changing viewing patterns. “While the struggle of independent cable networks, particularly those looking to represent diverse audiences, remains a challenge, there are more distribution choices than ever before, from skinny bundles that the traditional MVPDs are launching to purely internet-based live streaming services,” she says. “There are opportunities for networks to be creative, and while it’s not easy, it’s certainly a lot of fun finding ways to tackle these new hurdles.”
