This year Garrett consolidated Cox’s call centers to give customers a consistent sales experience, helped overhaul the company’s online channel and led the way in opening Cox’s retail Solutions stores, which now account for 20%-25% of overall business. “To me, it’s about being OK with the fact that sometimes it may not be ‘balanced.’ It’s about knowing when to focus more deeply in one area of your life versus others,” she says of juggling personal vs. professional time.

What/who inspires you at work? What/who inspires you outside the office?

What/who inspires you at work? My leader inspires me because he is a constant optimist, keeps a calm head, is incredibly smart and embraces/encourages diversity in very visible ways. He is supportive of women like me and I am truly grateful for that. What/who inspires you outside the office? I am inspired by my family.. I work hard to make sure they see me doing the right thing, making informed decisions, encouraging others, seeking new perspectives, competing aggressively but fairly.

 

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

To me, it’s about being ok with the fact that sometimes it may not be ‘balanced’. It’s about knowing when to focus more deeply in one area of your life vs. others. I’m personally interested in working on ‘de-teching’ while I’m at home with my family so I can be more present and in the moment.
