Who said engineers weren’t personable? Just ask Chen’s boss and Bright House President Nomi Bergman, who calls him “one of the nicest, and certainly one of the brightest” engineers in cable, noting “I don’t think there is anyone who would not wish to welcome him into their conversation.” That’s a powerful endorsement from Bergman, who came up through the techie ranks herself. Not only is Chen involved in most of Bright House’s capital decisions, but he has also led key tech deployments such as Bright House’s major VOD initiative. In addition, Chen contributes to the entire industry with his participation in CableLabs’ OpenCable Certification Board.
