Senior Product Manager
Comcast Cable

Talk about a heavy weight of responsibility. With TV Everywhere apps fast proliferating and consumer expectations skyrocketing in tandem, Epstein manages the Xfinity TV app and Xfinity TV Sports Remote app in terms of keeping consumers happy. That gets harder every day, but he has managed to create a high bar that just keeps getting higher as Comcast adds features and functionality. In fact, Epstein spearheaded several recent updates to the apps, including a sports update with a new March Madness Tournament feature to help viewers easily manage their NCAA basketball viewing across screens. That’s the kind of innovative and forward-looking action that will not only increase adoption of Xfinity apps – but also speed the trajectory of Epstein’s career.

What personal qualities do you think have helped you get to your current position— – and which ones (that you either now possess or must work on) will advance you to the next level?

My ability to deal with the lightning-fast change in web and mobile technologies has been the key factor of my success to date. Nothing in the digital space seems to stand still for more than a minute, so being able to thrive on the flux and seize opportunities has proven invaluable and will continue to be, going forward.

What digital trend will be the biggest game changer in the next 1-3 years?

Six years ago when I started at Comcast, streaming linear and long form video via the web was an erratic and clumsy affair. Now it’s simply the price of entry in our business – rivaling DVD and Blu-ray quality. Streaming of linear cable, on-demand and DVR recordings directly to a customer’s mobile device outside of the home would be my bet for game changer in the next 3 years. It will completely change the way people feel about TV.
