Despite being busy overseeing Nat Geo’s entire programming strategy, Moran still finds time to give at least two informational interviews a week. She had a tough time herself breaking into the TV industry and is forever grateful to Steve Cheskin, then-SVP programming at TLC, for her first informational interview. And she does love TV. When she’s not in the office, you’ll most likely find her on the couch with her husband and kids watching TV in their PJs.

How do you define a successful career?

Doing something that you love, surrounded by people you respect, with a healthy dose of the unexpected to keep you learning and on your toes.

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

You can’t be everything to everyone no matter how hard you try, so give yourself a break and believe that your best is good enough.

When not in the office, where are we most likely to find you?

On the couch with my husband and kids, watching TV in our PJs.
