Gail MacKinnon
MacKinnon’s busy year has included helping to lead the charge to gain regulatory approval for Time Warner Cable’s merger with Comcast. She still has other political hot potatoes to worry about too, including net neutrality. Outside of TWC, she serves on the board of WICT as chair of the Finance committee, and is co-chair of the Ford’s Theatre Society’s 100 Committee. Despite the very full plate, she keeps it all in balance. “Success is taking your work seriously and yourself lightly,” she tells us.
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
It would be the explosive growth of cable WiFi. Smartphone users are steadily and increasingly using cable WiFi connections for data and voice consumption, rather than relying solely on the cellular network.
How do you define a successful career?
Success is taking your work seriously and yourself lightly.
When not in the office, where are we most likely to find you?
I can be found spending time with my family.
