Getting beat in this category by ESPN is kind of like losing a pick-up game to LeBron James. Sure, you play good ball. Great ball, even. But it’s just hard to overcome such awesome power. WatchESPN has become the LeBron of TV Everywhere apps because it creates the kind user experience and excitement that only the leading sports net could muster, with 2014 adding multi-dimensional coverage of the FIFA World Cup that logged 43.6 million hours (2.6 billion minutes) of live match viewing for all 64 matches. Meanwhile, ESPN signed five additional distribution deals in 2014 (DISH, NTTC, NCTC, Suddenlink, Mediacom), making WatchESPN available to 75 million households across nine of the top ten multichannel video distributors nationwide.
