She works tirelessly and creatively with her team on promotional efforts for high-profile Spanish language programming for NASCAR and FIFA for Telemundo and NBC Universo. With a large extended Hispanic family, Asencio is in the perfect position to make intelligent suggestions on how to enhance content. “Diversity,” she says, “involves bringing together people with a variety of different interests, backgrounds, perspectives and experiences to create an open and inclusive environment where individuals can collaboratively learn and grow from others.”

Best business advice you’ve received?

First and foremost, it’s always important to be your true, authentic self; make sure you are passionate and love what you do; and work for someone you admire and respect. If all of these are aligned in order, then success will come naturally.

Diversity involves bringing together people with a variety of different interests, backgrounds, perspectives and experiences to create an open and inclusive environment where individuals can collaboratively learn and grow from others.

How can cable better support diversity?

With diversity on the forefront across all industries, the cable industry in particular has excelled, continuing to improve in the area of inclusivity, creating an environment that maximizes employees’ potential. This focus has been embraced by companies and has become integral to acquire tools to raise awareness on how to create an inclusive culture. Diversity should be introduced and recognized as an opportunity early on; it should become part of a company’s mission and strategy.
