As Cablefax’s 2014 Salesperson of the Year, Stephens is an industry leader, and the techniques that she implements at Scripps have helped drive new revenue at this lifestyle-focused programmer. She also looks forward to the talented next generation of execs “take over the reins and guide our business with confidence, creativity and integrity.”

How can cable do better job at supporting the industry’s women?

The cable industry has been a huge supporter of women during my 29 year career. I would encourage additional opportunities for women to engage in higher level conversations with leaders within our industry. Women have insights and learnings that have helped our industry evolve and successfully navigate a changing landscape.

How do you define a successful career?

A successful career includes watching those that I have mentored being promoted to positions equal or higher than my own. There is no greater accomplishment than seeing the talented “next generation” take over the reins and guide our business with confidence, creativity and integrity.

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

I didn’t find a trick to help me balance my personal and professional life – both areas just developed into one. I am fortunate that my husband and children understood what I was trying to accomplish in my professional life and they were supportive and proud. In addition, those in my professional life always knew how important spending quality time with my family was and they were supportive and encouraging.
