DirecTV took on a big job when in 2013 it started redesigning its authenticated portal site, using a new “Agile” framework tailored to the corporate structure. By relying on fewer meetings with fewer attendees, more collaboration, dedicated IT scrum teams and a “feedback loop” that encouraged full participation, DirecTV was able to maximize effectiveness and create a stellar portal. The result is a more tailored experience, responsive to various screen sizes, more robust browse and discovery features, bolder artwork and design flair and a “flip card” experience to quickly access new content. Overall, the entire app is more intuitive and truly an example of how to implement an authenticated experience that’s simple and straightforward.
