Rayford oversees development and implementation of company-wide diversity initiatives, serving as the HR representative for global diversity standards and practices. Her mission: recruit and maintain a workforce that meaningfully represents the diverse and culturally rich audiences the cable industry wishes to attract. In addition, Rayford manages Discovery Points of View, which seeks out diverse perspectives to spur innovation, as well as a number of other employee-driven groups like Multicultural Alliance, GLBT Network, Discovery Veterans Group and the Women’s Leadership Network. One of cable’s most articulate speakers on diversity, Rayford is not only active in WICT and NAMIC but also the Society for Human Resource Management and American Women in Radio and Television.
