A pioneer in interactive media, Martin has more than 20 years of experience spanning consumer applications and distribution platforms. Since founding iBox Systems in 2004, she has conducted industry research, led multi-stakeholder integrations and developed new product strategies, technology evolution plans, system architectures and content monetization solutions. Martin wants to see more women in hands-on technical roles. “Women are natural problem solvers and can bring a different perspective to project teams,” she says.

 

Where are the biggest growth areas for women in cable? 

I would love to see more women in hands on technical roles — developers, system integrators, architects.   Women are natural problem solvers and can bring a different perspective to project teams.  It worked for Alan Turing’s team!

 


Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance? 

Actively manage your priorities and ask for help.  It is not possible to do it all, so it is important to make daily trade-offs and spend your time where it will have the greatest impact on your career, team, family, friends and personal happiness.

 

 

Your favorite trick for unwinding? 

Get outside and play hard–hiking, boating, dirt biking, gardening, camping.  Anything that reconnects with the non-virtual world, followed by a great meal, great wine and laughs with friends.
