Now SVP, Communications Worldwide & Talent Relations, Albert spent years working in the trenches at Nat Geo before advancing to the head of the department in 2011. Since then, he has proven to be one of the most innovative and reliable communications executives in cable, cutting through the publicity noise with creative campaigns that capture press attention and generate buzz. His strategies for Nat Geo, Nat Geo WILD and Nat Geo MUNDO have resulted in some big publicity and ratings wins, culminating in record years for Nat Geo and Nat Geo WILD. Not only has Albert encouraged his team to think differently about every campaign and always try to stand out from the competition, but his deft maneuvering has also smoothed the synergistic waters between the nets, the National Geographic Society and Fox Entertainment Group. His coordinated campaign to boost promotion of massive series event “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” helped that reboot of the beloved Carl Sagan PBS series rise into the stratosphere of awareness before its March premiere. Other successes include the buzz and press attention surrounding “Killing Lincoln” and “Killing Kennedy”—with “Killing Jesus” on deck for later this year. Albert will have his hands full. But he’s used to it.
