Charlie Collier
Years in Cable: 20, but I like to think of myself as “in MVPD” so as not to offend anyone.
Education: BA, Bucknell; MBA Columbia
Best Advice: Get peoplemeter, watch more AMC, rewind commercials.
With Collier at the helm of AMC, the network has enjoyed record ratings, revenue and profits. To be sure, he has some excellent content to work with: ad men, meth men and dead men have treated him well, with the latter garnering an unprecedented 16.1 million viewers live same-day during “The Walking Dead’s” season four premiere. Capitalizing on that success, Collier launched the hugely popular unscripted “Talking Dead,” to satisfy fans’ voracious appetites for zombies. It’s windows of opportunity such as these that set this exec apart and bring AMC into a new age. Stay tuned for more original scripted fare, included a “Breaking Bad” sequel from creator Vince Gilligan, tentatively called “Better Call Saul.” Fun fact about Charlie: He was a tennis pro during his college years.
I watch the majority of programming on this device: Elevator news. (Old building)
The biggest innovation in cable over the last year: The Rob Marcus career-planning MOOC
TV show I’d most like to have a cameo in: Since “Word Up” I haven’t seen them in many shows, possibly Charlie Rose, I’m flexible on AM or PM
