Oakes wears many hats at SCTE, with responsibilities that range from driving the development of the SCTE Tuck Leadership Institute to working with WICT on creating the Women’s TechConnect mentoring program for women technologists. But Oakes doesn’t just work in technology; she relies on it too. “The advancement of technology has been a godsend for me,” she says. “It’s given me the ability to organize my activities more efficiently, to work from home one day a week, and – probably most importantly – to have a flexible schedule when I need to juggle work and family needs.”
