Perkins collaborates closely with colleagues in the company’s business units and government affairs teams to fashion Comcast’s public policies involving national communications and technology. He launched and heads up the company’s community investment program, Internet Essentials, which has bridged the digital divide by providing home internet service to more than 750,000 low-income US families since it launched in 2011. Last year, Internet Essentials became a key part of Comcast’s $15.3 million partnership with the YMCA to support digital literacy among children and their families. Perkins is also an active member of Comcast’s internal Diversity Council, and is a past president of NAMIC’s Philadelphia chapter.
