Bill Gerth
Director
Digital Media Outreach, Comcast Cable
We’ve been following @ComcastBill on Twitter for years, and we’re not alone. He puts a real face on customer service and has been rewarded with several promotions at Comcast. When we asked Gerth to describe his dream job, it sounded a lot like what’s he’s doing: “My dream job is a position where I’m able to focus my talents and passions in a manner to make a difference; To make a difference internally with my colleagues and/or externally with customers.”
What would be your ultimate dream job?
My dream job is a position where I’m able to focus my talents and passions in a manner to make a difference; To make a difference internally with my colleagues and/or externally with customers. In my current position I am fortunate to be able to do both, which is the best of both worlds. By having this opportunity to make a difference with something I am passionate about, I would say I am currently experiencing my dream job.
Who has been your biggest mentor and why?
I have been fortunate to have a lot of great mentors. Those I work for, former colleagues and industry leaders have all had an impact on my career in some way. The diverse styles and standards to which I have been exposed have provided me with guidance and knowledge, allowing me to execute every task given to the best of my ability. They have all empowered me to think at a higher level, taught me many life lessons professionally and personally and have helped me succeed.
What three things can’t you live without?
I could live without everything but my family and friends. My family has been there for me and has provided some of the most valuable advice throughout my career. A special thank you to my wife Jennifer who has always supported my career decisions and who continually made it known that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. And to my parents who taught me what hard work really was at such a young age. It allowed me to build my foundation and learn the proper principles that I continue to use to this day.
