Where are the biggest growth areas for women in cable?
I have been around the cable Industry for over 30 years and have never seen so much opportunity sprouting up around me. Business models are morphing right in front of our eyes into something we have never seen before…. into something sleeker and better. It’s becoming a different game with different stakes and something new that has to be learned in order to succeed. There is such appeal and appetite for that kind of role right now for most of the women I talk to. The opportunities are there for the taking. Innovative shops are places where women can use their incredible drive, tenacity, leadership, and deep insights to win big. Women speak for and to an incredibly vital demographic… that seems like a no brainer to me. Go to where the revenue is being generated through innovation and learn something new.
What’s the most important aspect of mentoring?
I have seen what happens to a person’s career when there is an absence of mentors and lack of interest in mentoring others. I can safely say that if you don’t think you need several mentors and mentees alike at all times in your career, you are not fully enjoying the wonderful sense of gratification of being a mentor and the incredible opportunity that exists by allowing yourself to be truly mentored. Mentoring significantly impacts the direction and quality of one’s career.
What/who inspires you at work? What/who inspires you outside the office?
I am inspired by people who look for opportunities to bring joy to others. There are so few people like that in this world… And how much we all need a little joy. These are the people who inform who I want to be when I grow up.

Find yourself a self-correcting balance beam. It’s all about a person’s priorities. They don’t have to be what everybody tells you they should be. Once you know that… you can be honest with yourself and the rest is easy.
