As Cox’s point man for content negotiations, Albert spent the past year quietly completing a slew of new programming deals, including those for ESPN’s SEC Network. He’s kept Cox riding high in the hotly competitive and costly sports arena, buffering the provider somewhat from the threat of cord cutters and OTT entrants. Albert knows that the cost of plumped-up bundles is chipping away at traditional customers, and he’s working hard to strike a balance between those large bundles and a-la-carte—the skinny bundle.

If I ever found myself saying “Better Call Saul,” I’d seek his advice on… negotiating retransmission consent agreements.
