PR Stunt | A&E – Bates Motel SXSW

A&E won us over by constructing the first-ever official pop-up motel for SXSW. This wasn’t mere window dressing, with the Bates Motel hosting daily visitors and even overnight guests. Once checked in, guests found near exact replicas of the motel’s rooms along with a mini bar, the ability to catch up on the first two seasons and a shower (natch). Nearly every round-up story featured the motel, which had a steady stream of traffic the entire festival. Fans could interact with motel employees for hints on upcoming storylines, a Tumblr GIF booth let them spread the word virally and those who signed the guestbook were entered into a daily drawing for one of the limited overnight stays.
