With some of cable’s top executives admitting they now watch their favorite shows on mobile devices, it’s clear that one-time “phone companies” like AT&T and Verizon are now firmly entrenched in the cable industry. They’re also constantly developing new technologies to improve portability for the consumer, like the U-verse app Lee’s team developed to give subscribers access to 200-plus live channels in-home and 110 out-of-home on more than 30 different devices. And programming bait, like the FiOS limited-time offering of free on-demand viewing of 170 full series and 2,000 movies that ran last month with binge viewers in mind.
