Reni Gorman
Reni Gorman, SCTE’s first ever vp of learning and development, is passionate about saving animals. She’s pictured above with her newest rescue kitten, Tommy-gins.
“I have adopted every animal I have ever had from rescue organizations. I currently have three cats,” she tells us. “This works out well given that each of my children is responsible for one animal…which of course leads me to my greatest loves, my children. My oldest, my 13-year-old daughter Eva, volunteers her time at an organization called Rescue Purrfect and plans to be a veterinarian. I’m very proud of her.”
Reni is a yoga practitioner as well. “Yoga helps me get the mental and physical exercise I need. I love it because I have a very active mind, always thinking, and yoga helps me quiet my mind and recharge.”
Finally, she’s a tech geek at heart.” I love having the latest and greatest gadgets be they the latest and greatest cell phones, cleaning robots–who I jokingly say are my most productive and helpful children.” She learned HTML when the “.com” era began, she says. “I believed then, and still do, that the Internet, the World Wide Web, is one of the greatest inventions of our time, bringing people together from all parts of the world, from all sorts of countries, cultures, religions. It is the great equalizer.” In college, she wrote a paper for her business class “stating that some day the Internet and WWW will be everywhere and will be more prevalent even than the radio.” Talk about prophetic! “That was before the “.com” boom and my business teacher gave me and “A” but laughed and told me I was a dreamer. I guess on many levels that is what I am.”
