Many cable execs happen to be published authors as well. Marc Etkind, gm of Destination America, is one them. His tome is called Or Not to Be, a collection of suicide notes by famous people such as Kurt Cobain, Vincent Van Gogh, Diane Arbus, Sylvia Plath and Virginia Woolf. Know what else? He was a bird warden in college and lived on an island with 10,000 terns, as part of the “Falkner Island Tern Project.”

FCC Getting New Round of Broadcast Ownership Input

Reply comments are due today at the FCC on its quadrennial review of broadcast ownership rules. That means it’ll probably be Monday before the FCC posts them all, and while many comments are likely to restate entrenched positions, a few new threads may still emerge.
