Two years after its debut, UK-based social TV app zeebox relaunched Mon under a new name, Beamly, providing personalized news and social feeds, and services to help users find and follow other fans who share their interests. “The initial phase of social television and 2nd screen was limited to apps providing a companion experience for audiences while watching TV,” said CEO/co-founder Ernesto Schmitt. Now the company will focus on building a TV community, tapping more than 100 TV and pop culture personalities to host TV rooms and profiles in the app. The company counts nets like NBCU and Viacom as partners.
