The nominations deadline for the 2012 “Women in Technology” Award, the prestigious honor jointly presented by Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and Communications Technology magazine, has been extended to June 8, in part because of all the preparation for last week’s Cable Show.??

The award shines a spotlight on the achievements of women inside this traditionally male-dominated industry sector. A nominee must be in a technical position in the cable or telecommunications industry, and she must be a current member of WICT and SCTE, among other criteria detailed in the nomination application (for more information, click here).?

Sponsored by Bright House Networks, the award was created in 1995 to acknowledge the achievements of an outstanding woman in technology who has demonstrated significant personal and professional growth, and who has contributed to the advancement of the cable telecommunications industry. ??

Susan Adams, senior vice president/Engineering and Technical Operations at Comcast’s Northeast Division and the 2011 WIT honoree, has been invited to present the award to the 2012 recipient during SCTE’s Annual Awards Luncheon at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, set for Oct.17-19, in Orlando. The 2012 Women in Technology Award recipient also will be featured in the 4Q12 issue of Communications Technology magazine (to read Communications Technology’s feature on Adams, click here).??
