Comcast is getting ready to choose long-distance partners for VoIP and handicappers are giving the edge to Sprint and Level 3—not a stretch, given both have deals with Cox, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable and Charter. Comcast may opt for Level 3’s dark fiber to transport video terrestrially, rather than downstreaming content from a fixed satellite. Meanwhile, AT&T is said to be miffed about a possible Comcast/Level 3 pact, as such an arrangement would likely botch the MSO’s deal to use AT&T’s network for its circuit switch service. Comcast chose Cedar Point as a primary VoIP partner earlier this month (Cfax 10/13).
