Videotron will provide Tru2Way services in Canada, using enabled set-top boxes from Samsung Electronics. The companies have announced a letter of agreement, allowing Videotron to provide interactive entertainment services along with high-definition, multi-room, digital video recorder (DVR) solutions.

The core software technology underlying the Tru2Way platform is a Sun Microsystems Java-based system. The software serves as a universal translator so retail devices can receive the full range of cable’s digital TV and related services, including interactive guides and VOD, interactive entertainment and gaming, shopping, music, news, weather, local information, sports, interactive advertising, voting and polling, banking and other services.
