Verimatrix, LG Integrate VCAS Security on Smart TVs
Verimatrix and LG Electronics are partnering for software-based security for premium IP video services across a wide range of connected TVs and other CE devices. The range of LG Smart TV devices, which includes 2011 and 2012 LED LCD Smart TVs, the Smart TV Upgrader, and connected Blu-ray players, will offer embedded ViewRight Web and ViewRight IPTV client security.??
The integration is capable of unifying an operator’s video-on-demand (VOD) services, online video and social networking via customized interactive TV applications. The integrated VCAS security enables device authentication and fine grain entitlement management across the full range of linear and on-demand IPTV and Internet TV services, unified with the operator’s existing pay TV subscriber management system and service provisioning systems.
Verimatrix and LG Electronics also partnered with Related Content Database (RCDb), a next generation TV software and data services company, for a solution for pay-TV operators and broadcasters to securely deliver their premium content offering over IP to LG’s Smart TV platform and Blu-ray players.
The Verimatrix VCAS for Internet TV solution provides encryption, secure key management and device authentication to protect streaming content to LG devices. RCDb’s WatchWith Service Delivery Platform enables an operator-branded application accessible via the LG App Store, and LG Smart TV platform family including LG LCD and plasma TVs, Blu-ray players and the Smart TV Upgrader.
RCDb’s WatchWith Service Delivery Platform also delivers secure streaming video to Blu-ray players, and leverages a common rights management interface through the Verimatrix MultiRights infrastructure.
